ted-and-joy-hooper-s600x600Ted Hooper was a renowned and highly respected Essex beekeeper.  He held a National Diploma in beekeeping and was a professional lecturer in Apiculture at Writtle Agricultural College as well as holding the post of County Beekeeping instructor.

During his lifetime, he was President of the British Beekeepers’ Association (BBKA) and President of the EBKA between 1983 and 1999. He was eventually awarded an MBE in recognition of his services to beekeeping.

Ted authored the ‘Guide to Bees and Honey’, considered the bible for beekeepers, which has sold more than 100,000 copies and has been translated into more than 12 languages since its publication in 1976.

Ted Hooper died in March 2010 at the age of 91 years.
